The War of Art draws from the idea of conflict, strategy, discipline, and the unseen battles that shape an artist’s life.

There are a thousand unseen battles in the life of an artist, and it often feels as if the principles of war could apply there too. The process is not always beautiful. Sometimes it feels like a battle. But it is worth remembering what you are fighting for, whether that is self-improvement, enrichment, or great change.

By adding ceramic handles to the age-old war machine of the AK-47, Joseph points to how powerful a tool art can be. At the same time, the process of making it can be fickle, delicate, and even destructive.

It leaves one clear sentiment: handle with care.
